    Dual XDVD180, can I use its screen?

    Bakc around x-mas my dad bought me one of thsoe Dual Portable DVD Players taht has a 7" tft lcd....i didnt open it until a few weeks ago and realized it does not have a video input...is tehre anyway I can remove the screen and use it? i tried the more practical aproach of returning it but for soem reason where my dad bought it from doesnt accept returns after 5 days of purchace...

    i have taken some screws loose and looked at it and tehre was a bundle of wires taht go up to the screen as well as a positive and negative set...

    Features

    Monitor: The Dual XDVD180 portable DVD player features a 7" widescreen transparent TFT LCD screen, manufactured by Sharp. It has a resolution of 1440 x 234, and a total of 336,960 pixels. The viewing angles are 105° vertical (65° up/40° down) and 130° horizontal (65° left/65° right).

    Viewing Options: You can view the built-in 7" LCD screen in one of several ways. Using the supplied car mount, you can strap it upright to the back of a seat or headrest for backseat viewing. You can also set the unit upright on a table or desktop with its integrated easel stand, or hold the unit in your hands to watch a movie or listen to music.

    Disc Compatibility: The XDVD180 can play DVD Video, DVD+R, and DVD+RW, as well as Audio CDs, CD-R and CD-RW discs. The player can only playback NTSC video discs. The lid of the player opens to a maximum of 90° for inserting the disc.

    Digital-to-Analog Converter: The unit features a 96kHz/24-bit D/A converter.

    Playback Functions: While playing back a DVD or CD, you can perform the following functions:

    Fast Forward/Reverse: You can fast forward or reverse at 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x or 32x normal speed. (No audio)
    Slow Forward/Reverse: You can playback forward or reverse at 1/2x, 1/4x, 1/8x, or 1/16x normal speed. (No audio)
    Frame-by-Frame: You can view one frame at a time in forward direction only. (No audio)
    Zoom: You can increase/decrease the image size from 2x, 3x, 4x, 1/2, 1/3, or 1/4 size.
    Repeat: You can repeat the current chapter, title, or entire disc. You can also repeat a selected segment (A-B Repeat)
    Program: You can program up to 20 tracks, chapters, or titles.
    On-Screen Display: You can use the on-screen display to view the status of the disc. The display shows the current Track/Chapter number with elapsed track time, remaining track time, elapsed total time, or remaining total time.

    Electronic Shock Protection: The XDVD180 has electronic shock protection with a memory buffer to prevent skipping. The memory buffer is 3 seconds for DVDs and 20 seconds for CDs.

    Remote Control: The unit is equipped with a full-function 39-button wireless remote control. The unit's infrared eye is located on the lower right side of the face of the player. Remote dimensions: W=2.049", L=4.91", H=0.493".

    Power Options: The player can be operated on AC or DC current. The unit is equipped with an AC adapter for operating on ordinary household current, and a cigarette lighter adapter for operating on your vehicle's 12-volt electrical system.

    Key Lock: The unit features a side-mounted Key Lock switch that can be turned on to avoid accidental operation of the main buttons while using the unit in a portable environment. The remote control operation is not affected by the Key Lock switch.

    Parental Control: You can select one of 8 levels of parental control: KID SAF, G, PG, PG13, PGR, 4, NC17 or ADULT. A password is required to change the parental control settings.

    Screen Saver/Auto Off: When activated, the unit will automatically enter screen saver mode after approximately 3-1/2 minutes of no activity. The unit will also automatically power off after approximately 10 minutes of no activity.

    Outputs Notes

    Dual Headphone Outputs: The XDVD180 features two 3.5mm mini-jack headphone outputs. When one or more pairs of headphones are plugged into the unit, the external speakers are muted. Two pairs of earbud-style headphones are included with the player.

    Audio/Video Outputs: The unit has two side-mounted 3.5mm minijacks: one for stereo audio and the other for composite video. The supplied A/V output cable plugs into these minijacks and allows connection to an optional TV or sound system via stereo RCA and composite video RCA plugs.

    12V DC Input: The single 12-volt DC power input allows you to plug one of the supplied power adapters for operating the unit on AC (household current) or DC (car battery) power

    well the dvd player its attatched to has to convert a signal somehow?? was hoping the cables that go form teh lcd to the dvd player could be used by splicing and them...kinda liek with a s-vid or vga cable...but what you are sayign is i cannot do that?

    Unless you're willing to open the bad boy up, hack the cables, find or make the parts necessary to make it work, then no.
    If you're willing to do all that and feel the time, labor and expense would be worth it, then sure. Anything is possible.
