Thread: So, give us new LCD touchscreen options!

Just a suggestion, but you guys may want to make an objectives/progress post to sum things up (similar to Rando's radio thread or Antimatter's OBDII thread). That way people don't have to sort through like 18+ pages to get the idea (I read the entire thread & I'm still a little lost ). That will also make it easier for people to understand the project & those people may be more inclined to make donations...Just a thought though

I've read most of this enormous thread and one thing I didn't see mentioned. Xenarc offered an upgrade when you bought your screen to make it brighter. I don't see it on their site anymore, maybe they just use those for the standard now?

that was when the screens were only 250nits or so, it just upgraded you to 400nits which is the standard now.

anyone know anything about EEFL, while searching for the right ccfl's I am coming across eefl's, which are similar but have an even longer lifetime..& the real benifit I see with them is each bulb doesn't need it's own power supply connection....in otherwords, to power two ccfl's you must run each off a dual bulb inverter, but you could string several eefl's togeather & run them of a suitable supply.....string 16 togeather in one circuit, dimmable......I've seen referances to it being the new tech & the next replacement for ccfl's..........anyone see this?

by the way jc, I checked the plex in my lcd & it is just a million microscopic dots...it seams to be a dispersion pattern & doesn't look like it should effect it negatively.......I'm going to leave it as is until I get the light source in place...I may play with removing it if it doesn't work great...but I think it should be fine.....I'm still trying to look into viewing angle film enhancements.....I don't want to send the lcd out if I can help it......
