Not to sure I understand the bit about the vents and pushing it down and popping up? Got a link for the Xenarc?
Cheers
take it apart and have a look. i am relacting all my arcon controls in my pug now. which is not too bad as there are only 2 mechanical wires. I suspect yours has more mechanical stuff which is bad. I like the pop out of the vent idea. jsut hinge them back so they gyst puched up by the screen. YOu could do the Xenarc so when you presss the vents they push the button and the screen comes up and out
Bes thing to do at this stage is get out your haynes manual and take the dash apart and do some exploring. Those silly french guys put stuff in odd places. We can sit here debating all night but then when you go to do something you find there is somehting in the way.

search for indash Xenarc. 700id or summit like that. It is a mechanical spring loaded in dash with a button on the front you push to make it come out. So if you have it mouned in the airvent space you could just press the button and it would pop up. But if you hinged the vents at the top and left a little bump to hit the button on the screen you could just press the vents and it would come out - coooooo!
(it is like those motorized screens but so far they are hard to come by in VGA format)
Hey here's Jerry, he'll know what i'm on about. Tell him geezer... (oh he left! - was talking about JCdillin)

lol, Then wouldnt i have an air vent hanging in the air?!
yeah but it flips back behind the screen (hinged at the top). You only need the slatted front bit. Perfect stealth install. Old cars get broken into more. Especially if they have screens as it is obviously not factory satnav in a '96 clio or my '97 pug.Originally Posted by Nookster
Agreed, that infact, is a sweet idea m8, i could prolly get a lil padlock on there alsolol, Are you sure the xenarc has enough power to push the air vent up? and is there a "cheaper" alternative? 320 is a bit steep!
Cheers
OMG jsut noticed something...get rid of that 10p clock they stuck next to the heater dials!reminds me of the one we had in our old cavalier SRIs!
stop taking the **** with the padlock idea - noob!hehe
the screen is pretty heavy and sturdy (saw one at the UK meet) but I dunno about the strength.
if you could move the heater dials you could put it there. bes thting to do is go explore with a screw driver, a torch and a small mirror for tracing cables and wiring.
or jsut stick your digicam in the dash on macro mode and take pics!
