    I DID find a thread with tonnes of macro shots of the LCD at different resolutions, however from what I could tell they were all Xenarc screens. I have confidence that the Lilliput CAN do it, I just want to know what settings will force it to lock on to 800x480. Is there another thread that I may have missed that discusses the lilliput specifically? I'll keep playing with my search terms, but the best I can find is an occasional "yes it works" but no details about what specific card&timings I should try (again, I can only find these details for xenarc).

    Heheh... we believe you! we are just frustrated cause it seems like no matter what timing settings we choose, the damn thing refuses to lock on!

    Thanks for your attention everyone! Maybe I'll just start buying video cards this weekend until I get one that works!

    I hope you are being sarcastic or joking becasue i am definitly not calling you liar. You have been very helpful to me and others. I am just saying that you are one of the few who say that there lilliput recognizes 800x480 and locks onto that resolution perfectly. When you say it locks on to that resolution i don't know if you mean that it looks like it displays properly or that the on screen display says 800x480.

    There have been several accounts where people have output 800x480 from their video card and the lilliput detects some other resolution although it fills up the screen. I just want to be sure we are all talking about the same thing. You don't have to post pictures if you say that the onscreen display says 800x480 then your word is good

    Guess what... I got a decent lock using my friend's geforce4 mx card!
    Here's the odd thing... the Lilli detects it as 848x480. It certainly looks like 800x480 though, and the computer is definitely outputting 800x480. When I change the computer to 848, the display looks about 3 million times worse, so I'm sure that the actual display I'm seeing is 800x480.

    Here are the settings from the GeForce Advanced timing screen:
    Horizontal:
    Front Porch 16
    Back Porch 96
    Polarity -
    Sync Width 80
    Scan Rate 29.82

    Vertical:
    Front Porch 1
    Back Porch 13
    Polarity +
    Sync Width 3
    Refresh Rate 59.992

    So.... I tried to copy these into powerstrip on my ATI, but I couldn't match everything completely. After screwing around for a while though, I got pretty much the same result by using the following (you can highlight and copy betwen the dashed lines and paste into your powerstrip if you want to try it):

    ---------------
    PowerStrip timing parameters:
    800x480=800,16,56,96,480,1,3,13,29040,274

    Generic timing details for 800x480:
    HFP=16 HSW=56 HBP=96 kHz=30 VFP=1 VSW=3 VBP=13 Hz=60

    Linux modeline parameters:
    "800x480" 29.040 800 816 872 968 480 481 484 497 -hsync +vsync
    ---------------

    Anyone want to try it out and see what they think? In the meantime I'm trying to figure out how I can verify that it is indeed showing true res. I think the best I can do is create an 800x480 background image with single pixel lines in each direction and then make sure the monitor displays each line with no interpolation bleeding effects. I'll post more results as they come in.

    Gotta give some thanks to this board & everyone who has fought a similar battle for getting me this far...!
