they sell for "custom, oem" aplications.... that means if you contact them for one they ignore you, or so I found when contacting several companys like this....

plumbing problem solved.... turns out the copper plate was transfering so much heat that I wasn't getting the connections hot enough..... this should be up & running real soon.....

when I finish this I may do my 8" lilli for top of dash....... that sould be a lot easier

that's funny coz thats just how I got treated by a lot of places.... bastards!

I was just completing an order for EEFLs with one place and then the last email i got from them was sending thier regards about the london bombings and then i never heard from them again! I also ordered 2 inverters for the original tunes from a UK place but never recieved the fax confirmation or replies to my emails. (didnt pay them as they never sent the invoice) and that was a UK place who i chatted to several times.

i replied to your PM. Are you sure the CCFL is broken not the inverter?

jesus christ, how may questions you gonna ask via pm?

the contrast and brightness settings have nothing to do with the backlight.

if your screen has a backlight brightness option then you will loose that by opting for a separate twin inverter unless you can intercept the anologue voltage or pwm signal it uses for a dimming inverter but as far as i know only the xenarc has this option. Infact if you get a dimming inverter you can easily add your own dimming.

I have no idea how you think you could integrate a dual inverter onto the stock lilliput board. I dont even have a clue what the lilliput controller looks like and i know you cant do it. You would have to find somehwere to safely mount the inverter.

I would suggest contacting the people i told you to contact about a replacment panel as they are not as expensive as you might think.

Well the problem with liht distribution is inevitable. one 6" either side will help but a U shape would be best.

As for power. Well the U shape needs approx 800V at 6mA. A six inch tube will need approx. 450V at 6mA EACH. The length-voltage is not linear but you will be using less totoal length so it should be ok. The inverter output will be proportional to the amoutn of power available. I doubt the inverter will overload any 12V power regulators (if there are any) inside the lilliput, but you could always hook the inverter direct up to the back of the power conector controlled by a small relay off the existing inverter power.

One thing you must do is remove the old inverter. If this is on the pcb then cut the power tracks as running an inverter with no load is a no-no. IF not obviously just remove it. To be honest you should be fine powering the new inverter off the old ones supply but dont blame me if it goes wrong.

Oh also it is easy to dim a CCFL. The xenarc has a dimming option

all you need a PWM supply to the tube. this overcomes the tube stuttering problems you get with simply reducing the voltage as tubes need a certain voltage to fire correct.

YOu can get inverters with onboard pwm or external pwm or no dimming. ones with onboard simply need a voltage of between 0-5V to a control pin to control the onboard pwm circuitry where as external pwm need a pwm input to a control pin. You can use a simple 555IC circuit to do this.

using 2x6" tubes i doubt you will need to worry about dimming as it will probably be dimmer that the original backlight unless the original tube was not running at full power.
