Ummm... both. Resolution is imporant because you can get more information onto the screen with less blurryness. Brightness is imporant if you want to have the the screen more viewable in the daytime.

Not sure what you mean by resolution. Do you mean lack of resolution scales, or what?

Brightness is by far very important. You can operate a carputer effectively on 640 x480, or which I prefer - 800 x 600. A dim (inexpensive) screen is useless during the day pretty much.

I don't understand what you are asking for rez tho.....

If the screen is VGA, it must do it min resolution of 640 x480 that is acceptable and doable for most of us.
If you cannot see what the hell on the screen, that is USELESS.
So BRIGHTNESS is MUCH MORE important than resolution cuz I don't need to do 4x3 or 4x4 digits resolution in the car.

Yes, my modded PSOne is MUCH BETTER than the Lilliput cuz it is BRIGHTER.

    Brightness is far more important.

800x480 is good enough for a 7" screen, and all 7" screens use that so...

Requirements for a decent carputer screen:

    1. VGA, minimum resolution of 640 X 480, 800 X 600 preferrable.
    2. Bright. As bright as you can possibly get it. 350 nits or better.

You need both but if you've got a crisp screen and no brightness it will be useless. However, a bright screen at low res CAN be used.

Note that composite screens for the primary display, while they can be used, are not in the minimum spec.
