can't figure out why i can't see the screen on my carputer

hey guys

i'm having probs seeing the screen on my carputer. last time it was working was right before i played a dvd, and it asked me something and i wasn't paying attention and hit ok, then it wouldn't display. so i took it out of the car and it was still in 640 X 480, and i changed it from 32 bit to 16 bit. that didn't work, so i tried 256 colors and that didn't work. the boot up window shows but then goes blank once it goes into windows. any suggesitons???

Gotta be the refresh rate setting. I did some tweaking with powerstrip and it did the same. Try booting to safe mode and changing the refresh rate or doing it with a different monitor....
That didn't work for me so I ended up going in safe mode and removing the driver then windows picked it up on the re-start and all was good....

the driver was messed up, and then we reinstalled it, but still it didn't work. any other suggestions would be great. we tried running in safe mode and we saw that it runs in 16 colors, but there is no option for this on regular boot. what settings should i run and what dimensions, and is the refresh rate supposed to be 60 hertz. does it need to be on crt or dvi, and there is no option for dvi.

Okay...look DIRECTLY at it. Don't blink. Move your head slowly from side to side...can you see it now?

Sorry. Just had to do that. Try pulling the CMOS battery from the mobo to reset the bios. Might put it back to the right settings.

6418047G35EHDELL E773c this is the file that keeps coming up on the device manager with an exclamation point next to it, and we keep deleting it and it's come back twice.... so not sure if this is the problem. thanks for any help.

Try disabling it rather than deleting it. You probably need to reinstall the driver.

When windows starts to boot, go into the boot menu and try selecting the start in VGA mode.

i've reinstalled the driver... i've tried vga mode, and does it have to be in 256 color in resolution 640 X 480 or does that not matter??? i have no clue as to what to try anymore
