Mostly true. He set up the group buy, after everyone had paid his Paypal account was locked because of the large amount of money that was put into it for the group buy. After awhile he cancelled everything and had everyones money returned. Then he set it up again but once again his paypal account was locked. He had everyone money returned once again. This all happening over a someone long period of time while he disputed with Paypal. This ****ed a lot of people off of course. Finally he just set up a money merchant account with Visa or something so you could pay directly with your CC. There were 24 people I think that paid him this third time. He got the money, got the screens, and shipped them to all 24 people. Took a couple of months but I got my screen after paying him 3 timesOriginally Posted by wizardPC
During the 3rd payment proccess he hacked the MP3Car database and was banned (this was before we got our screens) so I was definitely scared that I wasn't going to get my screen. But he did send it and no one reported having been ripped off by him.

Why do people think we would even consider going to jail for a few dollars in taxes...crazy...I would love to know if our competitors do this. That would be so underhanded.Originally Posted by jermaine

Well Travla for one did it. And another one , he is also a member of the forum, didnt help anyways since, even though it is a gift, if it is above a certain amount YOU WILL STILL NEED TO PAY duty tax. Customs people are not stupid! Cruel but not stupid!Originally Posted by Fiberoptic

Is it Ilegal ? I thought it was all around the insurance side of things and then if you lost it tough... other wise it was up to your individual customs to check from there.Originally Posted by Fiberoptic
Also and this is a bit OT... what if some one in the US bough say dont know a hifi on Ebay from you as an individual... is that taxable ? Its only like selling in the local paper....

How about a dead pixel guarantee... the eBay guy doesn't give that... chances are, he's buying up the ones with dead pixels that get returned to the manuf, and reselling them on eBay... what do you think happens to all those anyways? I can assure you they don't throw them away... a large percentage of the bulk sellers on eBay are reselling manufacturer returns... There are places on the web you can buy returns of various products by the pallet.
I know I sure don't want a display with a stuck blue pixel in the top 1/4 or bottom 1/4 of the screen... would drive me crazy watching a letterboxed video.

Maybe somebody doing this onesy-twosey as a favor is fine but if you start doing this on a regular basis, you are running what they call an 'export' business and you owe duties/customs, and taxes. If you don't pay, you'll get an all expenses paid trip to club fed.

The US has no national sales tax. Sales taxes are only assessed by the individual states. There's a loophole, however, that allows someone from out of state to purchase something and not pay sales tax on it if the retailer doesn't operate in the state I'm from. So I'm from Texas and I purchase something in Oklahoma, I can refuse to pay sales tax and it would be perfectly legal, so long as they don't have a store in Texas.Originally Posted by ccsnet
Ebay sellers are able to get by without assessing sales tax using this loophole. Even in-state stuff is fine if you're not selling a lot of stuff. I bought something from a large Ebay reseller in Austin and got charged sales tax. It was stated that TX residents were subject to sales tax, so I went into the auction expecting it.
There are some state that have no sales tax whatsoever, like Oregon.
