Well I know some front-ends (I use centrafuse) can modify the gamma settings with one button (night/day setting)... might be useful for you.
I know this is probably the opposite of the usual problems we hear in regards to LCDs and their respective backlights but I am in need of a solution. I have a planar screen that is just blinding at night. It illuminates the whole vehicle. 1000 nits with no dim pot. Makes me sad.
Now when I tested it out I used my desktop PC and through the ATI radeon tools I could drop the brightness and contrast down to make it look somewhat reasonable. Is there a way to make a button/macro (not sure the correct terminology) that would eliminate the need to go thru the several steps it takes to get into the video tools? I used search and tried strings like "LCD too bright" but I still haven't come up with an answer.
edit: also would like to know if the EPIA m-10000 board's video has the ability to drop brightness and contrast via the software?
If anyone has some input that would be much appreciated. TIA!

also you could try ol33l's GammaControl to automatically change the gamma settings based on time of day/sunrise/sunset.
