Found it, thanks. (duhOriginally Posted by Sonicxtacy02

As long as the sensor remains connected to the lilli, you will be fine -- just think of the eye as a switch that periodically connects the comport's DSR line to ground level when "fired" upon with a remote (as can be seen on the scope image earlier in this thread). I would use shielded wire, although interference is highly unlikely at these frequencies.if i already have my infrared sensor remotely mounted, can i just splice into those wires instead of soldering directly to the board?

Thanks....gonna pkay around with some ideas..![]()
ok got it hooked up and working with girder. but girder detects every button on the remote as the same code. Anyone gotta fix for this?
Does the lilli itself still respond to its own remote (on/off, menu, AV/TV)?
See if the right half of the schematic in your version of the Igor plugin matches your comport wiring. Earlier versions of the plugin come with a slightly different diagram -- the link between DCD and TxD is essential.
I'm using Girder 3.2.9 and Igor 4.04

i got it working with a old ps2 dvd remote. The other remote was the problem. it sent the same signal for every button until you changed the source (tv,dvd, etc). I've had to try it with 4 or 5 remotes to find one that sent a clear signal for each button, but its workin great now! Wish i hadda remote with more buttons than this one but its better than nothing.
Hi guys,
If your turned on by remote controls, checkout the ondigital remote and IR buddy. If you can solder, by cutting off the end that comes with the IR buddy and rewiring (Wiring changes ) you get a remote control with full qwerty keyboard inside, which you can programme using girder as your keyboard. I have exchanged mails with Andy from Digibox, as he was interested in doing the mods and selling the finished item to those who are interested.
The item I purchased can be found at Remote and IR Buddy
Make sure you check that your purchase includes the IR Buddy, as he sells the remotes without as well (and I made that mistakeops: !)
Once you have done that, it is a case of getting girder to recognise the commands and away you go. I have not yet completed the recognition of all the keys yet, but I believe that others around these forums have. I just need time to get around to it. If only her indoors didn't want to go to Ikea this afternoon . . . . . .
At least you won't have to prise open you lilli !

I've been doing this on my living room PC for years...it costs like $8 in Radioshack parts, and you can use Winlirc and autoHotKey scripts to control everything from DVD software to volume, etc., from the remote of your choice. You could even script it so that you could adjust your touchscreen brightness, contrast, screen position, etc, from...(drumroll please)...your touchscreen, or use an old remote to re-code button presses on your factory steering column for your PC, or create a custom controller mounted in your center console...the possibilities are endless.
I have too much time and too little aggravation in my life, so I built a carPC. ;)
never knew that. I think I might want to try this. In all honesty, how long would it take for someone with little soldering skills to complete this install?
