keeping constant power is a possible workaround, not a solution...

I have mine hard wired to full time 12v, it still reverts to the 33 brightness once a week or so. Once I had it lock up with a blank screen. None of the buttons worked includding the power button. I had to pull my dash cover to remove power to get it working. If you wire it up to have power all the time, you should have a way to kill power to it if you need to.

You should have a fuse near your power source...This would suffice.

Do they replace the whole screen, or is it just a firmware update?

I suppose I could try this as my screen is currently powered off of my M1-ATX (which cuts power after 2 hours).

But my only concern is sending good, clean power to the Xenarc so that I don't fry it. That's why I put it behind my M1-ATX.

Would I need some kind of voltage regulator if I power the screen separately?

I had a similar question ITL. Is it recommed to power the Xenarc with regultad power or is the cars 12V good enough. I mean they do provide you with the cigarrette lighter but just wondering if I should take it to the next level.

Also, if and when you turn off the xenarc and the it loses power to the touchscreen does than mean its an older model, or is that the design of the newer models as well. I just purchased a xenarc, Ill have to test the brightness issue. Is it only with the video inputs or VGA too?

I also have one dead pixel. My wife thought I was crazy when I was complaining about it but the VGA can be returned easily, it not moleded into anything yet.

well, I'm not sure they'll let you return it for one dead pixel. I believe I read somewhere that it is guaranteed 99% pixels or something along those lines. Call the mp3car store. I bet they can tell you.

My brightness reverts to default on the VGA only rarely. With the composite line, it lost settings every time the device was disconnected or powered off.

just installed my rearview camera on AV2. brightness settings get reverted to 33 when it switches back to PC as well. I guess I'll be pulling the screen out soon to return it...
