I will try this myself (even though I have the model without the remote) and report back (although, I think I've tried something like this before and it only persists until you shut off your car and turn it on again).

^^ yeah, I mean I know I have turned off the monitor before after my settings were correct and then turned it back on, but I don't recall ever seeing any change? Possibly a coincidence that it worked out for you, but if it did, lucky you!

    1. Insert key and turn on car --> this causes the PSU the switch on the car PC and also the monitor
    2. After the computer/monitor are up and running, use your remote to set the brightness/contrast to the desired settings
    3. Without doing anything else, turn off the monitor by using the Power button on the remote
    4. Turn the monitor back on with the remote
    5. Issue resolved?

Yes, that's the process I followed.

Previously all my attempts had me making the changes, the monitor going back into regular operation and me shutting down as usual. When it would come back on it was in the default condition. Not sure how/why, but by shutting off the monitor and turning it back on - all the while with the PC up - did work.

I should add two notes since I really have no idea why this worked. 1) I used the remote to set the values (not the keys on the front of the monitor), and I powered down before the monitor went back to it's normal screen. 2) The monitor seemed to come up in default mode, but about a second after it illuminated, it then switches to the setting I saved above.

BTW, it's been through about 10-15 power cycles since I found this with no issue. Previously I never got the setting to last past even one power off/on cycle. I hope this works for others, but as I said I have no idea why it would, maybe just dumb luck, or maybe the monitor said to itself, "might as well make the change, this fool won't quit playing around til I do." Best of luck to anyone trying this.

Okay, so when you say "I powered down before the monitor went back to it's normal screen", do you mean after changing the settings WHILE STILL ON THE BRIGHTNESS/CONTRAST MENU, you powered off? I'm guessing that's what you mean by before it going back to its "normal screen"? And that's great that it has lasted you 10-15 power cycles *knock on wood*. Hopefully the rest of us will have the same luck as you. In any case, I (and I'm sure others) appreciate you bumping this thread back up to provide us with an update.

Another quick question: how is your monitor currently hooked up? Is it hooked up to the PSU or directly to 12V? Or some other way?

And lol at the part in bold!

Yes - thanks for helping me explain.

Hooked up through the standard cigarette lighter plug - my plug is only "hot" with ignition key set to ACC or ON.

By accident I performed the following combo that seems to have fixed the issue: let it auto-on with the PC, use the remote to call up the menu and set the values desired, use the remote to power off the monitor (PC still running), use the remote to power monitor back up. Now use system as normal. I have no idea why this sequence worked, but it does...YMMV.
will give this a shot. If this works, it may actually turn out to be a feature of the Xenarc instead of a bug. kind of like a secondary setting for nighttime road trips tht reverts to daytime brightness on next powerup. :fingers crossed:

I'm still having this issue, it's completely random (late 2007 700 TSV). Once a week it returns to defaults...

(wired to the PSU, I'll try the remote sequence suggested above.)
