Need info on the internal make-up of the lilliput screens

I'm considering taking apart a lilliput screen and removing the buttons on the lower part of the screen and moving them to another location so that I can fit an 8" without having to move my HVAC controls.

My question to the people that have knowledge of the internal make-up of the lilliput screens:
1) Once the screen it out of the housing what is the size?
2) Are the buttons soldered onto the board, or are there wires that can be extended to relocate them?

The pictures don't exactly tell me the information about the buttons though. It looks as though they may be connected by a cable, but can that cable be picked up in a longer length?
