By reading the other posts it sounds like marsjell has this done. Maybe he can help us out. Maybe he can show us some pics of his so we will have an idea what the final product looks like.....
price of LCD's are always going down... you can get a motorized 6.8" NTSC LCD on ebay for less than $500 I believe... and considering that most have at least 1 video inputs you can easily hook up a Playstation, VCR, camera, etc...

Work in progress!!!!! Website is on its way!!!!
I just made a cardboard demo of the idea that marsjell had above. This idea will work and I can make this universal or even plans to make this with plexi glass sliding parts for different size screens, but I think that the screen will stick out to far and the plexi glass sliders will not look the best. I think thet we are wanting something that slides out and the screen pops up without the support of bars and without having the scrren stick way out away from the dash. Someone needs to come up with a good plan or idea. If anyone has bought one of these take a look at it for us and let us know how it works. I will try any idea out if someone comes up with it. The reason I wanted to use plex was that it is very easy to glue the plex without having to wait for the thing to dry before continuing.

well the flip up is controlled by the slide out (which is on a track). The whole thing slides out. Then the screen is pulled up by the rod.
thats the idea i had always thought of. The screen sliding out on a rail with rivets which the motors gears roll on to push the rail out. once the rail reaches a certain point the rod stops and the hinge between the rod and screen stops forcing it to turn.
That COULD work but what is the rod affixed to? It can't just free-float like that.
At least we are brainstorming and getting ideas out.

well obviously it cant freefloat.
you could have a tray that the rod is fixed too thats moves as well (to move the screen out so it can be flipped up)
