Post Any way to set custom resolutions under winXP

I want to be able to set a custom resolution for a 16:9 aspect ratio. I was thinking 800x450. I have a wide screen display and i need to do this to display movies correctly. I use winXP and an fv24 board. I can not get TVtool or powerstrip working on my computer, please respond if you have either of these programs working on your fv24 board. I think the resolution change can be done in the registry somewhere but i have not found it in Win XP, only win 98

How did you set the custom resolution in Win98? Whatever you changed could have been moved or modified.

You could write a program that changes the resolution. Just pop out a quick VB or VC++ program that should do what you're asking.

Another option is to try this: http://www.entechtaiwan.com/multires.htm

    Download it here: http://168.144.101.149/files/multires.exe

I have one of those ARM computers (book pc's) from tigerdirect with Windows XP and a Clarion VRX610 flip out screen. I tried Powerstrip last night and it wouldn't let me into the custom settings to change the resolution to a 16:9 format.

    edit this key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\System\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\VIDEO

with regedit to make the resolution whatever you want, then reboot. In the article i read they changed the res to 848x480 so you can probably make it whatever you want. Microsoft doesn't officially support anything less than 800x600 and Windows XP complains both on log in (a bubble from the right edge of the task bar) and from the Start Menu, once opened.
