how much does it cost that would be great

Anybody have any experience with these?
These look like they'd be incredibly easy to work with. No drivers, OS independent, keypad support, and any application or environment that has the ability to access the serial port can use it (e.g. custom Linux or Windows apps/scripts, a simple WinAmp plug-in, etc). There are even versions that can run off of 12 volts. Bezels are a nice touch.
They do seem kinda expensive (the smallest touch-screen unit appears to be about US$110 or so), but it seems to me like a fair trade-off for the benefits. I think they definitely compare well to the Matrix-Orbital serial units.
I'll try to find out if they have a US distributor or if they'll ship overseas (they're based in Germany).

Graphic lcd's operate on a similar basis of character lcd's (20x4 etc.)... it wont do vivid graphics like video/vga LCD's... they have an 8-bit parallel data input, so its via parallel or serial port. Dont even think of playing a movie or anything on it!! Everything gets converted from binary to hex before it can be shown on the lcd. And thats easier said than done... I doubt anyone who isnt a hard code-crunching will be able to use it... ive seen some of the coding for a similar gfx lcd... SCARY![]()
Plug N Play VGA/NTSC lcd's are far more practical as visual candy.

Did you even read the command table in the PDFs? It looks pretty damn simple for anyone capable of using any basic scripting language or application development environment (e.g. Visual basic). A usable touchscreen button can be created in a single line of text using a terminal program. Sweet! And because it's a graphic display it's so much easier, compared to a text display, to lay out information exactly the way I want it.Originally posted by King Snake:

I think it's pretty obvious that no one is watching movies on these things. I want a simple, clean, attractive, and highly usable display. Much like the head unit already in my car. I don't want a disco light show in my dash. I'm trying to drive.
