Anyone done the DWW-700M lights off mod?

I'm not sure what I should be cutting for the trace top right on this picture http://digitalww.com/images/700M-buttons_12.jpg it's all a little tight around there.

    Any guidance appreciated.

    Chris.

    Hi.

I did the lights-on mod around a week ago by following the instructions on http://www.digitalww.com/DWW700M_buttons.html.
The boards seem tiny and very fiddly but in actual fact they aren't too hard to manipulate. I did it on the kitchen draining board (with the drain plug in and the other-half & kids out).
I used a stanley knife to cut the tracks, they are surprisingly tough. I cut the track you mention http://digitalww.com/images/700M-buttons_12.jpg just on the white line in the picture.
The unit now remains off (and dark!) until the open/close button is pressed, either on the unit or the remote.

    Best of luck.

Maybe mine is working as intended then. I expected the lights to come on when the ignition came on but, as you say, mine is dark until the screen is extended.

I was thinking it would be dark, when ignition was on the eject and clock would be lit then the rest would come on when ejected.

On another note, I drove with it wired in today (although no source) listening to GM radio. When I open the screen I get huge interference so bad I cannot hear the radio. I have no modulator or anything like that connected.

Can you listen to FM with the screen open?

    Chris.

Sorry, I haven't actually got it in the car yet... a long story like everyone else's no doubt.
Can I ask what do you mean by GM radio? Do you still have a head unit? So far I think loosing the radio is going to be my biggest disappointment with a car PC.
I am currently running the monitor off a 12v Power pack with the TV on, the sound seems fine through an old pair of computer speakers so far. Watch out for the "Auto" store function on the remote - works but take about 10 minutes to finish, and the unit freezes during this.

Try listening with the screen off, but opened. I bet it is the inverter. It shouldn't happen. It is possible that some shielding and or grounding may need to be done in your situation.
