Using an old VGA TFT monitor... (kinda long)
I missed out on one of allenrumble's vcd-tft convertors, so I recently bought an old VGA TFT monitor (taxan crystalvision 100), and it is exellent, as it runs off 12v, and the picture is really sharp....
The problem with it is it looks like it is running in 4-bit colour, the whole time. It look amazing with gps, but try watching a video, and it looks like it`s running on ZX spectrum
By reading previous posts, i have seen various screens that range from 4-bit, all the way to 24-bit colour.... but i have never seen much info on the different kinds of controllers.
So my question is (eventually): Is it possible to use the controller out of this monitor with another LCD screen, preferably a screen with a better range of colours.
I`ve taken the monitor apart, and the screen is a hitachi one, but I forgot to write down the model number...
anyway, the signal goes through a wire with about 20 or 30 pins, and the connector looks like a single row of pins, like the pins on a hd or cd-rom connector....
Sorry i cannot be more specific, but hopefully some lcd guru will tell me what to do next, otherwise i will stuck with 16-colours for eternity
