    Distorted video

I recently swapped out my 40 gig for a 2.5 80gig hdd. After putting everything back together something isn't right. As the pc boots up, with the Windows XP screen...it's wavy and distorted but once Windows finishes loading, the graphics are sharp and undistorted. What could cause this? Seems fine after Windows loads but not before? I've never had this problem with my pc but I've heard that it could be the inline filter on the power line for the monitor. Yes i'm using the onboard video, but this shouldn't be.

i don't know what would have changed to cause that problem for you, but i do know that the monitor changes resolutions/refresh rates during boot, which is why it looks different/ok when it finally gets to the windows gui.

that's why i don't know what would have changed. did you use ghost or driveimage to clone the original drive? i know when i upgraded from my old 20 to the 80, i used ghost, and even though it should have been an exact clone, CF failed to run and I had to reinstall .Net in order to get it running again.

I've never had an issue like that arise when using ghost, but can't help but wonder if you're experiencing a similar issue.
