multiple monitors with one video card ...split screen

I have an idea that I think is possible but I'm not sure where to start looking. I don't know if such a thing exists and feel that if it does it's probably really expensive. So I figure I might have to build it.

    Here's the idea:
have the video card output 1024x768 (or some big resolution) and split the output into quadrents. Say one large 800x480 section, and then the rest of the sections would go to different screens. Any ideas where to start as for IC's go?

    ok so here goes:

if your video card has 2 vga outputs, 2 dvi outputs, and some type of composite or svideo out, or two of those. , its easy.

if you dont have a video card, id suggest you buy an nvidia, as this is easier.

make one monitor your 800x480, and your other whatever you want.

that was the worst explination ever.

they explained it better here: http://www.pcmech.com/show/video/796/

I know all about multiple monitor solutions with more than one video card. But I'm looking for a solution for use on one VGA output. Why?

    More efficient
    Less power consumption
    Less hardware needed
Flexible to be used for ITX and Laptop Installs

    ...just to name a few

He already said it. Get a Video card that has TWO VGA/DVI out.

    Here's one example.
