    Question Audiovox LCM640CS: 6.4 Display

Does anyone know anything about this display:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...ndexURL=0&rd=1

I called audiovox about it, and they confirmed that it is 640x480. How can that be true if it has composite in? I thought NTSC was limited to tv resolutions (320x234, or widescreen 480x234).

Anyone have any idea as to what the truth may be here?

    Thanks.
    TP

I don't know anything about that display, but NTSC whether it be composite, Y/C, or RGB, has a "standard" video resolution of about 640Hx480V viewable pixels for a square-pixel, 4x3 aspect-ratio display. The 320x234 represents the pixel structure on other LCD screens that WILL display the 640x480 video "standard" by stuffing all those video pixels into a smaller number of displayed pixels. A LCD display with 640x480 screen pixels will look better than a LCD display with 320x234 screen pixels.
I hope the way I said this makes sense.
    Still workin' on it.

In case anyone is interested I got this screen and took it apart.

It has this LCD in it: Prime View P64CN1 http://www.mansky.co.uk/pvi.html http://www.unitronic.de/Hersteller/PVI/pro6.4av.htm

It is (according to these links and NOT according to the audiovox manual that came with the screen which says it is 640X480) 320 X RGB X 234. So the manual from audiovox is not right.

Both of those links above say that this is has NTSC/PAL/VGA inputs and in taking it apart I found that it has connections for rgb+hsync+vsync. Isn't this what makes up a VGA signal? Or is this expecting an RGB NTSC signal?

Here is a picture of the connections I am talking about:

Tried hooking it up. I got a picture but could not get it to sync. I tried every refresh rate/sync width/front porch/back porch etc.. that I could think of but could never get a stable picture. Anybody have any ideas???
