I have a 7" kit from a bad display. The touch kit was never used

hmmm just let it overlap onto the sides of the screen? (maybe you could just put a sticker button over it on the sides and set it up so whenver those areas of the 'screen' are touched, it will launch an app or whatnot else...)

Or are you going to try and cut it.

hey spike, I dunno .... it might work?? I was just thinking about putting this screen in my console or somewhere else? using 0l33l's idea. I don't think it would be wise of me to cut it cause of the wires runnin through it...

That's what i was figuring about cutting it as well...

Overlapping it might actually be kinda cool though if you think about it, you could print onto sticky paper a bunch of buttons that you can design on your computer...then lay the touchscreen over them and put some sort of adhesive layer over it all to hold it in place and you'd have all the completely custom computer buttons you wanted.

Nooo dont cut it!! that will for sure destroy it. You can run the 7" touch overlay on a smaller screen, you just have to calibrate it for the smaller screen, only downside you will lose any touch functionality outside of the calibrated range.

Well I haven't done it, but it sure sounds like it should work...

It's like taking your regular 7" touchscreen now and running the calibration, but telling it that the corners are farther in than what they really are... for all intents and purposes, the software doesn't know whether you have a 7" screen or a 4" screen... it just knows that you touched a certain points as the corners, so it's gonna ignore anything outside of those boundaries.

Something else to think about: Ever seen the Phaeton? Well, it's got an LCD in the gauges. It'll show you when to turn, how long till turn, show you an arrow, etc
