LCD Character Display

After blowing up my 20*4 display, don't ask how but there where impressive blue sparks, and it's a miricle I didn't fry my PC

I'm now using my old 16*4 display. Which works perfectly with Mike Lynch's plugin. However with ever other plugin it displays the text 4 blocks to the right, it also does this with LCD print and every bit of software I've written. Any ideas what's going on?

I've spent about 3 hours trying to get it to work with no joy.

Sounds to me like maybe the software was not designed to auto-fit things properly to the format of the display (ie; difference between 20x4 and 16x4).

Perhaps it's a shameless plug, but my recently completed plugin for OpenMobile (seen at this thread) adjusts for size. Unfortunately right now it only supports Matrix Orbital brand character LCDs. It's the only kind I have.
