Oh yeah in this pciture http://www.members.optushome.com.au/holdenv/lcd.gif
Do i connect the ground at the botom just to pins 18-25 and i hooked my lcd up with no ressitors. Is it true that u dont need the resitors if u just want the contrast on full.
I have got pins 1 3 and 16 all grounded on the paraled ports pins 18-25 is this corect. Also Can i just pick up Positive 5v from my flopy drive power conector.

You do not need to connect the backlight for it to work.
You don't need any resistors if you want full contrast.
I have pins 1,3,5 grounded. (16 is also grounded but for the backlight)
You can use the 5v from your floppy drive connector.
