I would think you would need some kind of servo to make your own motorized in dash pop out screen. I just wish someone on this board would attempt it and do it!

yeah $900 for a 6.4" is a heck of a lot. and this maybe just be me (and/or the picture they use to show the LCD) but, why does the vga have an rca connector
just a thought:
could u somehow use an old cdrom? like take everything out of the cdrom and leave the motor and tray and somehow attach a lcd to that. you would probably just have to lift the lcd up manually to view it.
just my .02 cents
i saw about a month ago a guy selling 13.6" lcd tft vga input monitors

Eew Bugger it. I just went out and bought a NECVOX 6.8" TFT composite video car TV that folds out the dash for $1000 AU. It's far cheaper than trying to get even a 6.5" TFT VGA and then motorize the bugger. $1500Au is far tooo much for a VGA 640*480 that still needs to be mod'ed.
Besides my Asus 7100 tvout cranks for quality I don't think I'll even bother with this idea of VGA and indash foldy type things...
It's funny how you just change your mind like computer prices isn't it
