    Question Changing LCD Backlight Colors

    Has anyone tried changing their LCD's backlight color? Mabye adding some gel's between the light and the lcd glass? (gel = the stuff they use in spotlights to change color - theater's, movie sets...)
    I'm kind of wondering if that would make the LCD too dim to view in daylight.

    Well, the led backlight only puts out green light. So, if you put a filter there, that say, only let blue through, you're not going to get anything.

    You could replace the backlight with an EL strip, however, and those come in many colors.

    This guy has an EL backlite (blue)

    im havent looks at it completly not entirley sure how he did it, but theres a pic there with a blue lcd so yeah it can be done.

    but what i want to know is can you do this and invert it ? that would be really cool to have blue text. (grey on blue background would be hard to see)

    1) Take lcd apart
    2) Unsolder backlight
    3) cut EL strip to size
    4) wire EL strip to inverter
    5) reassemble LCD
