Yes, to use that, you'd need a TV out card.

If you get a characer lcd, like I have, then you'd use Nathan Stewart's plugin, but not if you're using a full screen LCD. If you're running a full screen LCD, you can just use winamp or Cobra.

Arby, actually your's is one of the first few sites I saw that got me into this whole CarMP3 thing. I'll be referencing it a lot, I'm sure, the deeper I dive into this mess.

If I do go with the Seiko L4034, as I originally planned, can you/how do you navigate between directories or playlists if you've only got that much/little viewable space to use?

I forgot to mention I've got a few old laptops with LCD screens. Would it be possible to use one of these or do they work totally different than what we need? Thanks.

With a 4" LCD you may (barely) be able to get a readable Winamp. But not much else. You should go with a larger one(IMHO). I have a 6.8" and I have ho problems with it. You can also go with the laptop screens you were mentioning, but it will take extra wiring. You will have to look at some other posts concering laptop screens as I do not know much about their use in this area. As for a char. display (Seiko) I don't think you will be able to make playlists and such with it. You can look at some pictures of my setup on my webpage to get an idea of things.

Well, I was playing around with the P90. Seems I can't disable the onboard video in the Bios. I guess this means I'm either stuck with the 4x40LCD or...I don't know what else. Actually, if I made one giant playlist of all the songs on the drive, this wouldn't be bad. If there was a way to choose playlists via the LCD that'd be cool too. Thanks Maverick.

I just have one massive 2500+ song playlist, and listen to it on shuffle.

I have 5 buttons: Previous song, Next song, fastforward, rewind and shuffle. With those 5 keys, I can easily navigate through my entire playlist.

As for the laptop LCD's, you'd have to find the pinouts from the manufacturer, then you'd need a $150-200 controller to use them with the pc

lorty's plugin registered will let you choose playlists using the lcd. haven't played around with it much yet though.

Well I set up my remote control so I could push 0-9 on the number pad and it would load certain playlists. You don't need any visuals to do this! Or you can make shortcuts for Winamp, in the target line do something like this:
"C:\Program Files\Winamp\Winamp.exe" "C:\My Documents\My Music"
This will load the whole dir in Winamp. You can make as many as you need for your directories. Also this way you can add MP3s to your dir and it will automaticly load them, no messing with playlists. Then you can set hot keys for these shortcuts.

How are you loading the different playlists via #'s? I tried playing around with renaming the playlists tp #'s but that didn't help. The closest I could get was hit the L and then corresponding named or 1-letter playlist filename, then hit enter. You doing that with DesktopX or a plugin?

I don't use the Winamp remote plugin, I use IrAssistant. I pretty much have it set up like the shortcuts I mentioned. I have IrAssistant set up so if I hit #1 on the keypad it executes Winamp and loads the directory. Just make sure that you can't run multible instances of Winamp (in the settings) so when you want to change playlists it opens it in the Winamp open and not start another Winamp. If you have IrAssistant already you can download my settings and see for yourself. You would only have to change the signal.
