Shelly 4x16 hd44780
I have purchased acouple of shelly 4x16 hd44780 backlit lcd from a guy on ebay. the problem was that he didn't have a schematic or any info(i didn't know this until it arrived). he sent me the generic one used for almost every other 4x20 on the market. My lcd's have a 15 pin input while most other 4x16 and 4x20's have 16 pin inputs. this i am hoping is the problem. if you have any info on the shelly lcd's i would really appreciate this. thanks a ton!

it does have a backlight which is pin 15 at +5 volts but i don't have any contrast adjustment because there isn't a pin 16. when i connect it up, i can get the backlighting to work but i don't get any text. i have tried a couple different winamp plugins too.

sounds like its sharing a ground for the backlight and power

do you know the pinouts of the lcd??

i don't have the pinouts for the lcd. I tried contacting other winners of the auctions for that lcd but so far no one has replied. I have also tried contacting shelly directly but they have not returned my call yet. thanks for the help though. i really appreciate it.
