16x2 LCD
I have an old 16x2 LCD from my original mp3car setup. I would like to make use of it somehow in my new system, but I cant think of what for. I have a 4" TFT which displays alot of stuff, so I'd like the 16x2 to display something the 4" doesnt. I was thinking a temperature guage but my computer's mobo doesnt have a sensor.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
You can buy PCI cards that have a temperature sensor. I have seen people make HUD's with those LCD's, projecting them onto the windshield. Good for quick song info. Or even more fun!!! Install it on the back of your car with some magnification (2-3x) and be able to send messages to the car behind ya! Could be interesting!!!

I heard of someone using a char lcd as a odometer and fuel gague-- maybe their car had a digital system

That would be fun! Tailgaters beware!
If your mobo has a game port check www.benchtest.com on how to make a gameport read temps it's pretty easy accually. Thats what I plan on doing.
