Power led on xenarc - necessary?

Um.. I smoothed my front bezel just like a friend did with his but as I was putting the lcd back together I noticed that since I had filled in the hole where the led used to go, that it wouldn't fit now without modifications..

I initially tried to snip the end of the plastic like my friend did, but it still wouldn't fit.. so I snipped the entire led off.. leaving the 2 prongs from the board. I covered them with electrical tape to make sure that there are no issues, but now my friend is wondering if that was a "circuit" that needed to be "connected"??

I don't have my opus wired up yet to power it, so I haven't tried to power it on since removed the power led.

I need to know if I need to wire in a new led to complete that circuit... I don't want to fry anything.. so I'd like to find out asap.

    Thanks much.

I'm kind of hoping that it's just like a pc "power led" setup... where I can just not have anything on it..

hmm, it gets annoying when not being used too (at night). so if its not really needed, thats good.
