Post Video Card / LCD Problem?

I have my whole system ready to start working, and now, when I power up my system and try to start my computer, the lcd does not show anything, it is hooked up composit, and I was wondering if there was something you had to change in the computer to switch it from VGA to composit. Please help.

    Thanks,

Ok, well I am gonna assume that you only have the composite hooked up and not the vga. On my setup I had to put a 75 ohm resistor(1/4 watt is fine) on my composite output(shorted across the composite output with the monitor still hooked up) so it would know something was hooked up to it. My video monitor didn't have enough internal resistance for the video card to pick up. I didn't notice a signal difference after I removed the resistor so its ok the leave it in(that way it will always work when you have to bootup). I hope this helped.

What kind of LCD is it? What kind of video card? I know you can change those kind of video settings in your bios. You might want to check and make sure power is getting to the screen.

I Hooked up my tv card to my tv, and got a picture, I am going to take it back out to the car and try it again, I hope it works, well, please tell me what you were talking about when you said you hooked something up to get a stronger signal, and do I have to go to radio shack to get something like that.

    Thanks,

My card did the same thing, take it inside to my tv and NP, but take it outside to my video monitor and it doesn't work. Go to radio shack and get a 75 ohm 1/4 watt resistor and cut your composite video cable in half, strip back the wires and install the resistor. (there are 2 wires inside, a sheild (common) and another insulated wire inside the common wire (center pin), you will have to stip that one too. Then wire the resistor accross the two wires)
    -------------------- <-center video pin-------
    |
    ] <-----resistor 75ohm 1/4 watt
    |
    -------------------- <-sheild of video cable--
It sounds like your video monitor doesn't have enough internal resistance for your video card to see. I hope this diagram helps.

I know for my ATI card, it required the 75 ohm resistance or it will sutdown the composit out.

I know some cards have a jumper to enable the composit out.

I just found out i got the same prob with this new LCD i bought. Would a 82Ohm 1/2 W also do the trick? or do i have to get a 75Ohm 1/4W?

That should work fine. The wattage doesn't matter if you have extra, and it's only a 7 ohm difference.
