But he said he had power going to the USB type connector...

Just as if using the AC adaptor, 12-v power from the carputer PSU is fed into the "pseudo-usb" connector cable on the side where the RCA connectors are (but not to the RCAs of course!). Then, the "pseudo-usb" end is plugged in to the monitor.

yeah if he has power going to the barrel plug on the cable that has the USB connector then that would be correct that it would power the screen. 1 of those pins in that USB style connector actually just goes into the positive pin of the power connector that is on the mainboard

Okay. The cable looks like this:

On computer end, there are 3 RCA plugs (for Video-1, 2, and audio), plus a connector to plug to the AC adaptor (or PSU).

On the monitor end, there is the USB looking thing (connected) AND the other end of the power cable (not connected).

So I have 12v even if I am not plugging in the power connector on the monitor end. Not only that, but that 12v coming in is somehow getting routed correctly to turn on the monitor!

Oh...okay...so why have the power plug on the monitor end?

If the monitor powers up as you connect the USB like jack then one, two, or even all three provide(s) the power. Have you even metered which one/ones?

The RCA (Video) thinggy to USB-lookalike does carry 12V power.
On the RCA end, you have V1, V2, Sound, and the Power connector. The other end going to the USB-lookalike. If you connect:
V1 -> Video source for video
Power Connector -> Wallplug 12V output. The screen will be power on.

In another word, there are 2 way to power the Lilliput: The normal way which is the Power connector on the monitor OR thru that USB-lookalike cable.

I found out that when I watching movie on the Lilliput.

Any guesses as to why they even included the power connector on the monitor end if USB thingy is already providing power?

I guess not everyone uses that plug, like I dont, so it's just for options or the other thing I was thinking was to power some cameras
