    Question Garmin Gps 35pc problems

    I have a good one for you guys, I just purchased a Garmin gps35 pc gps unit, and I tried instaling it on my desktop, well windows saw it as a generic NMEA device and it worked fine with MS streets and trips, but when I went to install it on my carputer,
    windows does not see it as a GPS device, it says it is a Serial ball controller , I have tried messing aroung with the com-port settings but still no dice, is there some driver or something I am missing, I did try it on the carputer with hyperterminal, and it seems to show all the sentences correctly.
    I then went back to my desktop, and removed the Device, and now it wont see it on either com-port either!
    Sorry If I am rambling on, but it is the last step to completing this project.

    Sounds like something is wrong with your comport setup on your carputer.

    The GPS doesn't require any drivers. it's just a normal serial device. For me, under WinME, windows didn't identify the GPS at all. All it cares is that there's a serial port. WHat's on it, it could care less about.

    Hope you can figure it out -- again, it's probably a problem with your com ports, not the GPS. I'd try removing the com ports and readding them.

    Well I have tried different settings, and still no results, I am using MS Streets and Trips, and it will not let me use the Gps option until I go to add hardware in windows and then it should see it as a generic Gps devicew, it wored like this on my pc, I just can't get windows to see it as a gps, only a serial ball mouse?
    It work with hyperterminal, and it seems to be wroking corectly, but not in ms streets and trips, has anyone seen this before, I can not get windows to recognise it, I am usng an Intel440bx se2 motherboard & win98, on both machines.

    Please help!

    I also use Microsoft streets and trips and mine works fine with the Garmin gps, the only thing I had to do was install the software that came with streets and trips so I could enable gps support. Streets and trips came with my computer as a bundle called Microsoft Works Suite 2001, I believe the drivers are on disk #2 just hit explore and youll see a folder that sais GPS.

    yup that's all it was, i wnet into help and found out about the gps add on on MS Streets & Trips, funny though when I installed it it was supposed to be a "full install"
    I guess I was misatken, thanks anyway
