    Question Bmw 4:3 + Av-4u Lcd

I hope I'm not being an arsehole but I've read alot of the threads on getting 848 x 480 on the LCD (which I thinks is a Xenarc from reading other posts). What I'm interested in is a stable 800 x 600 resolution.

    My setup is as follows:

M10000 connected to the native BMW Nav/TV monitor via TV out and my LCD connected directly to the VGA port.

Picture on the BMW screen is fine at 800x600, on the LCD it won't "synch" properly. I've tried chhanging the resolutions and can get 848x480 with a stable pic but is useless with dialogs and I lose the start button etc.

If I connect only the LCD via the VGA port then the screen is nice and stable at 800x600.

Am I missing something? When I go to the monitors dialog in the properties, I'm only offered the choice of CRT and TV, should it not be LCD and TV, i.e. am I missing a driver?

Any help would be much appreiated as I'm beginning to resemble Yul Brenner.

    Cheers Guys

AFAIK TV-out isnt dependant on the output resolution, is it? Anyways, your image will always be sub-par using TV-out.... no way to change that!

800x600 is just regular resolution, an M10000 will display that with no problem, your nav/tv contraption just isnt liking it... 800x480 is the native resolution on Xenarcs/Lilis so that is why many people want that, but afaik it isnt easy to get it on Via mobos...

I know the TV out isn't brilliant but if I disconnect the LCD and connect a standard VGA screen in it's place, I get exactly what I'm looking for so I don't think it's the setup in the car with the TV/Nav screen as the only difference is the monitor connected to the VGA port on my M10K.

    Explain better please....

you are connecting your BMW-Screen through TV-output right? and this looks bad
you try connecting a VGA-LCD scren (like lili) through the VGA-port? and this looks good right?

if what I say above is what is happening then that is the way it is... tv-out is "supposed" to look bad (well not supposed, but is the way it is), and VGA-out looks good... no reason to look any further.... I dont understand the question...

    Hi,
Roy, he's saying that at 800x600 his BMW screen on TV out is ok, but his VGA monitor isn't right. That's how it seems to me. I can't help but wonder if its a VGA monitor problem, as the TV out, which as you say would be the worst quality of the two is good
    Cheers,
    Gavin.

Get an averkey and just split the VGA into VGA + TV/RCA:

You can get them cheap at tigerdirect.com /.ca (avoid customs/brokerage!) or off of EBay.

do you have pics of your setup ColG. I have a bmw with onboard monitor and a xenarc 7" I dont know where to put the xenarc. You might want to try to change your refresh rates to 60hz if thats not set already. of see what refresh rate you pc is set at when the TV out is plugged in. It seems that the vga doesnt like how your pc is configuring the video for both tv out and vga. maybe something to do with refresh. if the computer says CRT, that shouldnt be a problem its the same as LCD. you may also want to get the latest drivers if you havent.
