    Cool Widescreen LCD...

    Hi all,

I'm looking into getting a 7" Widescreen LCD for my project. Has anyone ever heard of an 7" Widescreen LCD in VGA, XGA or SVGA, the ones I've seen are all NTSC or PAL.

A few other questions for you all.

Has anyone ever used a Widescreen LCD?
If so, how did you get windows to form to the 16:9 format?
How does Winamp look on it?
Is the text readable if you double size it?

I'm sure I'll have more questions later.

(Damn, it's a long time since I've been here.)

I can only answer one of your many questions -- in the registry, you can edit the options that Windows gives you in your Display control panel. For example, windows gives me 6 different resolution options, from 640x480 to 1280x1024, when I right-click on the desktop and choose Properties. They're all 4:3, since that's the shape of my screen. In the registry, check out this key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Class\Display\0000\MODES

It lists all of the video modes available to you. You can add any oddball video mode you like. Theoretically, you could pick any two numbers greater than zero and it'd work. However, I've never tried actually editing these, but I did read somewhere that it'd work, I'm not just pulling this from MyAssPortal.com. Also relevant is the registry key that stores your current video mode:

    HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\Display\Settings

I haven't messed with this one, either, but I'm pretty sure it'd work. [Disclaimer: Take my advice at face value -- I'll never claim to be an expert.]

[Edited for typos and to say wow, look at my member number. I feel so ancient.]
