    Post Densitron

    Hi,
Last week, I bought two "Densitron HC4857FGY-LV0094" or "95" I'm not sure because one sticker says "5" and the one underneath says "4".
Anyway. Does any one know the Right way to wire this?
Also does anyone know which LCD this is.
It’s from TIMELINE, and they just don't know what there talking about.
    Thanks,
    Alon

There has already been a heated discussion about this issue... Please read this thread:

If you have any trouble, I'd be glad to help... I've gone through 3 of these trying to figure it out, and now I've finally got it

Hey Alon, i recently bought the same timeline lcd, and when i recived mine the positive and negative wires for the led backlight were disconnected and i can not find anywhere on the web where it shows which wire goes where. Can you look at your lcd and tell me which is the positive and negative terminal....thanks!

    Thumbs up

I would just like to reinforce the facts. I just got back my replacement Timeline Densitron 40x4 LCD yesterday, and wired it up using Nathan Stuart's diagram and it worked perfectly.

Ryan_Seibert The terminal marked "A" is the Anode (positive). The terminal Marked "C" is the Cathode (Negative).

SuperMatty That's great! Glad to hear it.

Jawbreak I just went to the local electronic store and got my pots there. Even radio shack should have the 10k Pot. For the 100 Ohm pot, My friend used a 1k pot and it worked fine, but it was really sensitive.

About the ribbon cable, I removed mine and replaced it with an IDE header type pin block. This is how it used to be:
    Red Wire = Pin 16
Then it goes in order all the way to pin 1 which is at the opposite edge of the ribbon.

I hope this helps you guys. I'll post more info on my LCD installation later(I'm making it detachable). Let's just say that I've found a use for the "un-used" pin 16

    Question

Hey Milesg, since im not to coordinated with the A" is the Anode (positive). The terminal Marked "C" is the Cathode (Negative)type of thing, and anyways, i cant find anywhere on the lcd where it says that, say that i am looking down at the lcd, with the ribbon cable on the right side, can you tell me on the opposite side ( the side with the power for the led) whether the red or black power cable goes on the top or the bottom?? Any help would be gretly appreciated! Thanks!

    Hey, sorry to confuse you...

First off: you're looking at the thing upside-down hehe, the cable should be on the left if you're looking at it's face (or at least that's the way my last 3 LCDs were).

    okay, so here it is:

    ______ | --------------- |C
Ribbon | LCD Screen Face |
    ------ |_________________|A

    I hope this font works.
If not, then the Cathode is on top when the ribbon is on the left, and you're looking at the face of the LCD.

    Good Luck,
    -Miles

    hmmm... Exactly as I planned
