they look decent but i personally don't like big brand displays or the buttons being on the right side because it just makes it a little harder to work with
I just bout a 2000 subaru outback. I am thinking about adding a touchscreen and carpc to it... Here are some question i came up with.
Is there a way to mount a screen in a double DIN? I have only seen the install things for screens that pop out of the dash. I don't really like the looks of these at all. I also saw a double din mounting bracket for a Subaru WRX... which may work, but it was $140 which seems quite high to me.
The screens I'm considering are:

or

sorry fo rthe long urls...
Are those decent monitors?

2008 Civic... Sound system... then carputer install...
WORK IN PROGRESS
If you look at my avatar closely, you can see a chick with two big knockers....
what i would like is to mount it as if it were a cd player... i dont like the brand names or buttons showing either... mainly, i dont care what the screen is, i just want to be able to mount it in the doube DIN area... so it's not sticking out at all...
well 8" wont fit in double din and 7" will have to removed from its casing so I would recommend getting a known brand as there will be instructions on how to take them apart on here and lots of photos and advice.
but what about mounting plates? is this a common item? i haven't been able to find anything about it... except for that wrx thing... and $140 is quite spendy...
i'll have to get some... it's a 2000subaru outback... it has triple din...
someone did an install the other day with a new style lilliput into a 2.5 din with no fabrication at all. 3 din would leav e you will a little bit of space you could use for something creative or if you strip the screen down you could still use a HU.
Perhaps a IDE drive... you dont happen to have a link do you?
i wouldnt put an ide drive there! I would put some USB, CF slots or best of all some nice OEM style buttons to reduce the load on your TS and let you chance track and volume easier when there is glare on the screen.Originally Posted by ahreno
