Dynamix 7" vga mode light problem - any help?

I got this monitor off ebay 6 months ago and i guess it it the same unit as LinITX model.

It worked OK most of the time with occassional issues. Now, all of a sudden VGA mode is barely readable even in the night. Like there is no backlight at all (i can see letters 'VGA' in bright green color for couple of secs). But if i switch to video1 or video2, screen light is full.

Any ideas what would cause this?

Worst part is about warranty. Dynamix guy on ebay does not state the warranty period and i assumed 1 year and i was wrong. I emailed them about the problem and got a reply saying warranty is only for 6 months. I emails them 5 days after the supposed 6 months warranty period and they are of no help. They don't even reply to emails anymore.

    Temp Fix

I bought a bare screen with controller board (turned out to be older model Dynamix 705) from "For Sale" forum here and replaced my existing controller board and voila...it works.

Only glitch is I can't use buttons for input selection. However, remote control works nice and even though this controller was in screens that were rated for 250 nits, my screen looks bright enough.

Any ideas on what could be wrong with the original controller board?
