Convert LCD for use in car?

This could be a crazy idea, but do you think it's possible to first of convert an existing lcd to work in a car? Second, how likely is it that a 15" could work?

    15" lcd conversion process

I think that's really cool. There seems to be a debate on whether or not go with that big of a display, it really comes down to preference because some people are able to do it because they can.

I probably found mp3car after seeing this site, if you haven't seen this check it out. http://www.timekiller.org/carpc. Really cool stuff like streaming video, maybe even remote starting, etc.

I'm wondering, did you end up following instructions on mp3car to adapt the monitor to work with a different type of power outlet? Any reading materials that you'd recommend?

actually i just went ahead ahead and installed it
i got my hands on a cheap used pc lcd (100$)

and i thought what the hell, i might as well just try and see if it would work
and it did, i just hooked it up to the car with and adapter 10-16v input - 12v output
just to be sure it got a steady voltage all the time, ripped the screen apart and built a new case.

got hold of some motors and atached it to it, so now when i open the trunk the
screen flips up and powers on (i got to push a button to make it go down again)

just jump into it, i dont know if im just lucky but i usually never break stuff when installing into a car, i just try and see if it works and usually it does

    new lcd bezel

I'm definitely going to want to do this when I install the lcd. The current bezel is like 2.5" thick all the way around with pretty large buttons. What did you end up building the new case out of?

Personally, I think a 15" in-dash is retarded. It takes you to the other side of usable size, to where its way too big.

    Too Big...

It wouldn't fit in dash in my car anyways. that would be silly.

Yeah, so instead it's going to hang from my rear view mirror like one of those air freshener tree thingys.
