    Deceiding on new Flip Screen.

Iv been looking around for a while now, both seraching on this forum and on the internet but i am having trouble find a decent 7" motorised flip screen. Iv looked at the Lilliput and Xenarc both neither one seems to have what im after. Iv been unable to get to the Xenarc site for some reason, all i get is errors(both with firefox and IE) so i was hoping someone here could recommend me something.

This will be my first build, so any advice is appriciated.

Im very much after a motorised display, but havnt manged to find many, there is 1 on the forum store but it doesnt seem to have a brand name (iv had trouble before with unbranded components in the past, so i dont want to make the same mistake).

    Any help/advice is appriciated.
    thanks.

The reason you haven't found anything is because, there aren't many choices.

I would stay away from fleabay. The MP3car.com store, and www.digitalww.com will stand by thier product, but, I do not believe that the Lilli or Xenarc are available yet.

You need to get over your non-branded component fear, cause that is all that is available, or perhaps, wait for the Lilli and Xenarc to become available. I have been in the hobby for some time, and the fact that they haven't made anything yet available, or at least in large numbers, tells you something. Also, Lilli and Xenarc are not what I would call "branded" componenets per se. Perhaps in this forum and arena they are, but are they REALLY branded?

Ooopps, edited for the comma instead of the period mistake. Thanks Rebel.

Period after eBay. No need to stay away from MP3car.com store

    Had another look at:
    http://www.mp3car.com/store/product_...roducts_id=120

and i do like it, i also found this at the digitallww.com:
    http://www.digitalww.com/DWW-700M.htm

Now security is a big thing, so i dont really want 7" touch screen etc stamped all over the front of it, thats just asking for trouble. The one from digitalww.com doesnt look exactly like a fold out screen(buttons, time etc - it could just be a basic CD player) but im not sure, the fact it has an in-built TV tuner is also a big plus, but i still cant deceide.

Do any of you consder the theft possibilities with fold out screens, and if so have you taken any measures to try and minimise it?

Theft is a reality. All you can do is everyhting you can to reduce it. When closed, the monitors don't look special at all, that is abig step in the right direction.

That's a big benefit of these. But there's always the risk...

yeah, i spose so. Still which of the two screens i posted would you go for? both seem to have similar spec.

I do like the one from the mp3 store, and if push came to shove id just get some black electrical tape just to cover up the lettering if i knew i was going to back somewhere dodgy. It doesnt have the built in TV tuner thou, how much would it cost to get a separate TV tuner card?

edit: what is SRC?, search doesnt bring up much and from what i can gather it seems to be something to do with the radio?

    thanks

Do not buy the lilliput motorised touchscreen you can find on ebay it is a p.o.s and they are breaking all over the place, you can read all about it here lilliput in-dash 7" but be warned it's a monster thread!
