it only took me a few weeks, 3 irons, and 2 packages of heat-shrink tubing, but now i can mount the display 3 feet from the controller (and that's not my hand, it's my little brother's)

Cat5 cable. Available at any decent computer or electronics store.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

actually those are shielded Cat5, idk if it helped any, but in addition to being braided, it's got some metal shielding around the whole thing. And the reason the cable looks ****ty is because the spool of it was sitting outside for a while.

What is the model number of that panel?
Where did you get the controller for it?

Nice.. the LCD panel itself is probably LVDS.

IIRC, you can go up to about 3 feet with regular unshielded twisted wire..

With shielded wire, you should be able to go farther, 6-9 feet or more.

Of course, that's assuming the LCD panel is LVDS.. I can't tell from the picture.

huh? I have 6 LVDS panels up and running right now with UTP cable, and one of them is 16ft long. (cable that is, not the lcd panel)
