I've never tried to run my Tview @ 800x480, but if anyone came across the answer, let me know too... Thanks![]()
I bought one of these monitors about a year ago. I have no clue if it's actually a TView T-700TS or a StarVision SP-7VGAT since it doesn't mention a brandname anywhere on the box but I understand it doesn't really matter since they are the same anyway.
I really like the monitor but haven't been using it much for one very simple reason: I have not been able to run it in its native resolution of 800x480. I've tried tons of settings with PowerStrip but the monitor never saw any of them as 800x480. I'm beginning to suspect this monitor actually has the firmware of a different monitor and that it simply does not recognize an 800x480 resolution.
Anyway, I've searched the forum and although I found a few posts of people mentioning the same problem, I haven't found a solution to this problem (if there even is one). So my question is: has anyone been able to run this monitor at its native resolution of 800x480? And if so, how?
Tx

Yes, I cannot believe nobody has been able to figure it out yet, considering the number of people owning one of these things. Either that or I'm not using the Search option of this forum properly.
I once heard someone mentioning it might be possible to replace the firmware of this monitor, so if the monitor indeed doesn't support its own native resolution, it would make a lot of people happy figuring out how to do this.
You do realize that this has absolutely NOTHING to do witht he monitor but the video hardware you're using.
I'm guessing that you're probably runing the onboard S3 Unichrome graphics on an EPIA M-series motherboard.
If you'll look, there's assloads of threads about stting up the video on this motherboard.
To me it's quite clear that the OP does get 800*480 on his computer, as he speaks of RECOGNIZING the resolution, not outputting it. As you must know, outputting the resolution is only half of the work. Getting the monitor to recognize it is tha other half.Originally Posted by DarquePervert

Perhaps....
I may have misread. There have been lots of people struggling to get the M10000's to display 800x480 and can't even get Powerstrip to display it.
That was the tone of this thread.
If I'm misreading it, I apologize.
I'm running it on a Geforce4 6800GT and the card can output 800x480 without a problem. Problem is, the monitor does not recognize it as 800x480. Even though it's the monitor's native resolution.
Like I said, I've tried tons and tons of (timing) settings in PowerStrip but the monitor simply will not "see" it as 800x480. I suspect the firmware of the monitor is actually for a different monitor which simply doesn't understand an 800x480 resolution.
Shameless *bump*.
This monitor has been sitting there doing nothing for the past 1-2 years, so I was really hoping somebody would have solved this problem by now...![]()
Have you tried a different frequency output??
Yes, tried everything I could think of. Different refresh rates, different scan rates, front/back porch settings, sync width, just about everything.Originally Posted by Gobby
