have you opened the case (before it died)?Originally Posted by SirNemesis
Hi,
I have a Lilliput 7" touchscreen (629 model, 2005) and it recently decided it wanted to die. The monitor now does not display any picture. The buttons light up normally, but nothing is displayed on the LCD. This includes the menu, and the green text which would indicate source.
My question is, has anyone here ever experienced a problem like this and know how to fix it? Or, does someone here have a schematic for this monitor so I can attempt to fix it, or have it fixed professionally for me?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately I have. It was removed from the case to test fit in my car, then put back in the case and tested. It was working corrected for about 2 hours, then I disconnected it and didn't touch it again for about a week. When I plugged it in again, nothing displayed on the screen.
This monitor has only been used for about 8 hours total, and I have no idea what killed it.

this is a pretty common problem!
the 'wireing' inside the lilliput screens is Very fragile.
these are plastic "ribbon" cables with the wiring itself actually printed onto the plastic with a conductive material. it is very easy to scratch this stuff, wich destroys the cable and requires a replacement.
Thankfully, what is much more often the case, is that the problem actually occurs at the point that the ribbon cable actually connects to the components inside. sometimes when these cables get bumped, jostled, pulled etc.. they move a little in the connector and lose proper contact of all the many tiny pins inside.
these connectors are Very BRITTLE, and extremely delicate so you MUST exercise caution when manipulating them.
that being said, try checking all of these connections for a proper fit, and you may want to reseat them on at a time until you can get your unit to behave as intended..
GOOD LUCK.
Yes i thought thats what the problem would be aswell. However it is not. I have checked every pin on the cables with a multimeter to confirm nothing is broken. I have also confirmed that they are making contact in the plugs correctly.
The problem with this monitor is much more complicated then that. Thanks for the suggestion though.
