    Would it have killed em to put a 2 cent LED on the device
    Yeah, that would be nice, especially considering the problem I have been having recently.

    Sometimes, when I turn it on, it doesn't actually turn on. Nothing happens. I wait quite a while to no avail. Each time I think it is dead, but then a while later/another trip, it turns on without a problem like nothing happened. I suspect it has to do with extreme cold, but I'm not sure.

    I am in Seattle and it doesnt get cold here (by New England standard at least, where I am originally from) however one night it probably got in the low 20s... My screen did not turn on for a good 15 minutes even with the heat going full blast.

    At first, before the heat was even on, it flickered white when I hit the on button then went black.

    Then after it started warming up it wouldnt even flicker.

    Finally after it was almost too hot for me to even bear in my car, it turned on fine. No problems since.

    I was talking to some guys in the Automotive group and they said in other countries where it is consistently cold they go with headless setups where the only output is voice. They did tell me that there are LCDs made with large temp. ranges but they are very expensive.

    I was having that problem alot too. What I ended up donig was disconnecting it from the cars 12'v, and running it off my inverter. I took an old 12v ac power adaptor and cut the end off, and wired it up to the 700H, its much more consistant now it is running off the inverter, ghetto I know, but its function over form right now. If you don't have an inverter, you can try running off your power supply.

    Even still though, every once in a while it will not turn on when I press the power button. Usually its after thease crazy temp. fluctuations we've been having up here lately, you know, 65 one day, 3 the next. Usually what I end up doing, is unplugging the screen from the inverter, power cycleing the inverter, and plugging everything back it and it works. But honestly, I cant not give you a scientific reason as to why it does this. I just thing the screen has a pretty crappy backlight and very crappy software.

    As far as auto powering on, I have not seen anything in the software that will allow this. I guess the best we can hope for is maybe hacking the main power button its self. When it gets warmer here, like above 35, I'll rip the screen out of the car and try and rig something up if noone else has.

    I would love to get this working.

    BTW, is anyone eleses Brightness and Contrast able to be adjusted in the OSD? Mine can't

    Nope no adjustment here either, but it does work for other input sources.

    I'm glad I found this thread (now I know what unit mine really is)

    I started a post here -> http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...748#post954748

    But now realise that it's a (crap) feature, not a dud unit

    I'm going to mod mine to have auto power up, as it's WAY slower than my lilli to start.....
