i like the idea. probably not possible without being a major manufacturer. I still say go with the lcd text display and some custom buttons for scrolling, like they did in the old days of car pc's

    It does ???

would you mind explaining that ..

If you have 1 din free, why wouldn't you go for a motorized 7" screen, you get great res and a touch screen, perfect for controlling an on board PC.

or is there something i'm missing ??

I see the vision here, even if you already have another monitor, I think it would be sweet to have a 1 DIN LCD that you could like say for instance display the current track, fast forward, rewind, etc; possible weather data; obdii info etc. While keeping your Visualization full screen or your navigation full screen, this could be pretty neat, I was looking at some of samsungs lcds and the have some that are close its just an issue of hooking them up.

If you are intrested in going with a 1 din touch screen, may I reccomend a graphic lcd touch screen.

this would allow the visual interface along with the easy controll of a touch screen in a nice small package. You migh even be able to use two side by side. The interface looks pretty easy to work with and would be easier than hacking up a HU, but not as much fun

    Hurt my feelings?

If you'd bothered to look up a few posts, I already offered a viable solution to the guy's problem. He's even actually considering it. All I did afterwards was convince him not to waste his time and search for things that don't exist. When was I ever hostile?
