    Help me justify the cost...

I need some help here guys.

I have actually built my carputer. I used a an extra P4 2.4Ghz processor and 512Mb of RAM I had from another upgrade of a computer. I used the video card out of the upgrade, and the harddrive. I bought a new small case and microATX MB, and a new ($24) wireless NIC. I have a 300 Watt continuous/600 Watt peak inverter I've had for 5 years I will use in conjunction with a CarPro Platinum power controller from the CarPC store (~$115).

But now, I am faced with buying the monitor. I *want* a motorized 7" touchscreen, and it will be about $391 (wow). The MOST expensive by far of this entire project. I have the money to pay for it, but I am having a hard time justifying the cost.

I started this project because my 12 CD changer for which I paid ~$225 (12 years ago) finally crapped out. I don't really NEED a carputer, but I guess none of us really *need* it.

So, how do I justify the cost? Help me out here...

How do you justify the cost of any toy?
You've come this far, spent some money already. Not to finish the job would be to waste everything so far.

Considering the system you're putting in your car and the little money you've spent, the cost of the monitor MORE than balances that out.

YOU need to justify spending the money for the monitor. There are other, cheaper alternatives out there.
You could get a non-motorized in-dash. You could get a flip-down monitor. You could get a regular monitor and mount it somewhere else.

    Thanks DarquePervert...

I am close to buying it...I guess I was just not as prepared for the cost as I thought I was.

    Look in the store, vdan02
And don't threadjack. If you didn't mean to, you wouldn't have done it.

My point is that they are the same make/model. If you searcht he forums for the DWW model, you'll find some results from people who are using that model.
