oh you cut the cable on the touch panel. I thought you ment the cable that connects to ... never mind. That cable is not replaceable, and a repair attempt will most likely cause more harm than good. You are screwed. You need a new touch panel.

Good luck, I'd personally buy another. You don't have anything that you can solder to. But if you want to try to fix it, try this.Originally Posted by Yevmeister

Rear defroster repair kit, any pep-boys/Kragen auto store will have it, basically a cheap version of the conductive epoxy.
I tried this one time with the repair it, ended up buying a new touch panel. Its messy stuff, doesn't stick very well and was hard to keep from shorting nearby connections.

Yes and no. The touch panel you have is a Resistive type. It is called this for a reason. It uses Resistance to determine location. By soldering wires, or running copper strips, epoxy paste, etc. you may change the resistance of the leads, and my cause touch calibration errors.Originally Posted by Yevmeister
If your panel has soldered leads, like the first set of pictures I posted (from an ELO 5 wire resistive panel) then you could possibly just attach new wires and bypass the ribbon.
But, if yours is like the second set of pictures (Suntai touch panel)
then you may be doing a lot of work for nothing.
IMO, save the hassles, and spend the 50.00 on a new panel, or search the board for a used panel FS.
I use this stuff all the time to repair scratched traces on the touch panel itself, and it works great. But, I would scrap a panel before attempting to repair a ribbon. Just not worth my time.Originally Posted by phc
