    Dead DWW-700H

I was originally undecided on what screen I wanted to get. I knew I wanted an in dash solution, but I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money. After reading the forums here, and hearing many people giving kudos to Armen at digitalWW, I made up my mind and decided on the DWW-700H.

After getting my DWW-700H, I finally started working on installing everything into my car. I have everything up and running except for the screen. I emailed techsupport@digitalww but haven't gotten any replies. (I know it is the weekend and they are closed) I have time to work on my car this weekend so that is why I thought I would post here. The replies to my last post were very helpful in giving me clues as to what my problem was, so I thought I would run this one buy you guys to see what you think.

I have the screen running off of the 12v rail of my P1900. that is the only device on that 12v rail. However, after starting my car, and I know my pc is booted, I still cannot get the screen to come on. Thursday (the day I installed the unit) I worked for a couple hours with it trying to get it to come on. I Could see a flash of the screen if I held down the power button, but could only get it to flash again if I killed the power supply and turned it back on.

Finally, I'm not sure what happened, but I pressed the power button once more and got a white screen. Afraid I had fried it, I killed the power once more. The next time I pressed the button, the screen came up, and I could see the display just fine. It worked for the rest of the night, my buddy and I were able to go for a short drive and play with the new setup.

The next day I tried to turn it on on my way to work, and it was dead again. All i can get are flashes of the screen, but it won't stay on. I have checked the cabeling. I'm getting a steady 12v on both the power and ACC line. Both ground wires were tested for continuity, so I know all of the cabeling is correct.

The only thing I can think of is that I got a bad unit.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can check to see if I have done something wrong (though I can't imagine that i did) Or should I just wait for Armen to get back to me for a replacement?

I am getting ready to go on a long trip next weekend, and I really want this up and running before that trip, so if I can get this thing going before then, I will be one happy geek

Thanks again for all of the invaluable info contained in these forums, it made my install up until now very smooth, and has given me some great ideas for the next steps to take.

Maybe I can post some pics of my install once I get the screen working

What is with these stupid screens! I'm sure mine is a dud one minute, then it bites into life and works like nothing had happened!! It's frustrating me!!!

I'm going to rip it's guts out, and shove my old lilliput stand type monitor's guts into the enclosure if it's not careful! It seems all of the posts I have read, nobody can get auto power on, it won't start when it wants, and it's slow as hell no start.

I love buying crap things, it makes me feel good ... grrrrr

I have had the same problem too. Exchanged it and now the new one MIGHT be doing the same thing. I don't know if this is a wiring issue. I doubt it because the wiring is pretty straightforward. Ground, Neg Batt, Pos Batt, ACC

The problem is that I bought it new via ebay off some dude in Hong Kong... It's rebadged as a thermaltake monitor... Anyway I think I'm just gonna use it's casing and fit my old "not 1 din" lilliput in there

i had the same problem this morning. I'm running the screen of M2-ATX 12v line. WHen my computer started, there was just a white screen and nothing was showing up. After staying like this for 10 mins or so, it turned black and few mins after that it started working.

It almost seems like it "warms up" before displaying anything........which is stupidy because I don't wanna just sit and stare at blank screen while it takes it sweet time to warm up

Mine is behaving at the moment (other than not having auto on which is slowly driving me crazy) so I will give this one a go for a while but as soon as it does another white screen stupid thing, I'm gonna perform the chop and fit the old lilli I have in there. The reason I don't use the lilli is because the touch screen died, so I'll use this touch screen and the lilli behind that. It does fit as the screen glass is exactly the same size and the controller board is smaller so shouldn't be that much of a triple by-pass.

Which I'd know that these monitors where so *****. I would have bought something else otherwise.....

I rechecked my wiring and even added an extra ground. It appears that it's a cold weather thing. It was only around 50F at that (hasnt even started to get cold yet) If this continues to be a problem... I don't know what I'm going to do.

Ya I believe that its a cold issue too because when mine was acting up, it was quiet cold but now its been working fine.

If it indeed is a cold issue, is there anything we can do to fix that?
