    Lilliput Powering

Okay, I've read through most of the lilliput's powering threads and hopefully this isn't a nub question.

I've been reading a lot of post having their lilliput powerd through the cig lighter. Everyone points out it seems okay (might have some static noise or whatever). And on the same note people say not to cut off the "EGGULATOR." People also noted that you should possibly add a fuse. Question is my lilliput's cigg lighter plug doesn't really have an egg its a box. It also says filter + fuse. So i was wondering... Should I add another fuse on top of it to be "safer."

Oh by the way... I plan on using the Cigg Lighters Back cable.. not the lighter itself. I was thinkin of replacing the plug with a Switch to toggle the cigg lighter's wiring.. Just in case the cable provides constant power.
    Thanks in advance, Rob

You must have a new modek Lilli. The box (used to be the egg) includes a regulator and a fuse, so no need to put a fuse inline unless you are paranoid. (It can't hurt to have too much protection if you put in another fuse)

The cigarette lighter power should be off when the ignition is switched off. As you said, If the socket provides constant power just put a switch on the Lilli's wiring to turn it off if you want.

hey thanks meddler.. i guess i sort of formulated my answer already from searching.. Just wanted a second opinion i guess. I agree that the cigg lighter should be off with ACC... but according to some people.. it stays on ^.^

    It does stay on

Installed mine today and the Cig lighter is constant power. If you are still using a standard head unit just spice into the red 12v ign line and power it from there. I am going to remove the red LED in the lilli and use the onboard 0/l switch

some of the later model cars call the cig lighter socket a power outlet and looks like they have changed the outlet to be an always powered output. (ie. not switched by the ignition) In this case just put a switch inline with the power supply.
You don't really need to because when the lilliput can be set up to switch on and off automatically when there is a vga / video input signal. Check this thread for more info on auto power on for the lilliputs
