    Cracked Laptop LCD

Somehow, the screen on my laptop cracked. Aside from wondering how it happened, I'm wondering if it can be fixed. Hopefully someone here can help me out with a quick diagnosis, and if it can be fixed, if i should send it out to be fixed, if i should buy a new screen, etc.

You will have to get a new screen...LCDs can't be repaired beyond the component level.

I am sorry to tell you you will have to buy a new screen. the same thing happened to mine except I stepped on it after being pushed by someone else.

I had to get one. I found one on ebay, I can't say it was cheap though but it easy to install

I was afarid of that. Theres no sense taking it in to the service center then either. $265 on ebay for a new screen..and chances are I can't replace it with another laptop screen right? I'd hate to do that though, the picture on this screen is beautiful..still is despite the crack, in some pictures you can't even notice it that much.

You might be able to replace it with another latop's screen as long as the model is the same. You'll come to realize that there are a lot of different models of screens used for the same laptop model; at least that was the case with my old Dell laptop.

I must warn you, though, in my laptop the part where the screen cracked was black and eventually its size increased until I could no longer bear watching such nice laptop with a broken screen so i gave in and bought a new one

Yeah, after a quick glance on ebay theres about 3 or 4 diffrent models for my laptop. I assume that I can find out which one is right by opening up the laptop and finding thoes numbers?

The black was probably caused by it leaking right? Hopefully the screen won't get that bad, but over time it's probably going to get worse...and hopefully by that time I'll have some more cash and I'll just replace it.

Yah all you have to do is find some of the hidden screws and take it apart. they are on the back of the screen

I assume the loss of color was from the loss of whatver liquid LCD"s have

    Smile Re: Cracked lcd display

It looks like you will have to get a new lcd screen. A screen that is cracked unfortunately cannot be repaired. I don't know what you call a good price , but you can try this website http://www.nylaptopparts.com/lcd-screens-c-2.html , they have pretty good pricing and service , I have purchased from them and I was very satisfied. Hope this helps.
